With the 4th of July just around the corner I thought I would make a card to send to my brother in California.  I used this very cute Digital Delights image, Luvin the USA Bongo.

Garden Fence - Craft a Scene

Over at Craft a Scene we are having a new design team call along with our Spring Flowers challenge.  The DT position is a 4 month term, you need to have a blog and love to make scenic projects.

My card this week features two Make it Crafty images surrounded by FlowerSoft stems and EK Success flowers.

I combined the two images using Gimp (free software) and printed them on Copic coloring paper. After coloring and die cutting I decided to add some dimension with FlowerSoft and punched flower stems.

Digital Delights Special Dogs

All dogs are special!  I used to be afraid of dogs due to an unfortunate incident when I was seven years old.  However, since then I have overcome my fear and last year my husband and I got a dog for the first time.  Little Sasha is a delight and a wonderful companion.

My card this week for Digital Delights features Speckles the Dog.  I decided to use the new camouflage papers by Wendy in honor of Memorial Day in the US.  As I said before, all dogs are special and so are the military dogs that serve along side their handlers.

Thank You For Being a Friend - Love to Create Guest DT

Today I have the privilege of being the guest designer over at Love To Create!  We are to make a card with a sentiment and it must relate to a song.  The song I chose is "Thank you for being a friend" with lyrics by Andrew Gold. I think this song was also used for the show Golden Girls.

Fresh Brewed Designs is the sponsor this week and my card has the Owl Love You image.  I colored the owls with Copics and added Distress Pine Needles to the background. Using the Martha Stewart sprig punch adds a little dimension to the tree branch.

Spring Flowers and DT Call!

For my "Spring Flowers" card this week I tried a few new techniques.  First, I stamped the Old Mill 063G from Stampscapes onto my new Cryogen White Cardstock (purchased from Tanya at Peddlers Den at the Savanna retreat). Then I colored the scene with my new PanPastels (I bought a starter pack from Karen Wallace and a few other colors from a store near me). I really like the look of the PanPastels.  The color goes on very smooth and does not fade like other inks.

Next, I tapped in Copic Opaque White paint in the shape of clouds (a new technique I learned at the retreat from Lynette).  I added a little grey PanPastel to give definition to the clouds.  Lastly, I added dots of color to look like flowers in the grass using a few Copic colors - V06, R85, RV29, Y17.

Help Me Find My Pup!

Last week Digital Delights showcased their new western images and for my card this week I wanted to carry on the theme with this great wanted sign.  I added one of the lonely pups images and a Spellbinders die to complete the poster.

Don't Mess With The Sheriff!

I am always looking for boy card ideas and when I saw this silhouette at Digital Delights I knew just what to do with it.  I have two young (8 and 2) grandsons and they would both be excited about a sheriff with a gun. It is funny how little boys (all kids, really) always seem to be pretending to play bandit or cowboys even if all mention of guns has been kept out of the home.

I combined three digi images together with Gimp (free software).  I printed out the scene and then distressed the edges.  I applied Distress Tea Dye to the edges and around the images.  I colored the badge with a bit of Copic C1 and the cactus with G24 and G21.

Craft a Scene Spring Flowers Challenge

Hello from sunny BC!  We are having the best weather this weekend!  As I look around I can see the end of daffodils and the start of tulips and other spring bulbs.  My fruit trees are blooming with the promise of summer fruit.  I think this actually might be my favorite season.


My card today is for the Craft a Scene Spring Flowers challenge.  I used a couple of my favorite Make it Crafty images.  I saw the log and flowers last year and fell in love.  I used digi images and Gimp (free) software to put the girl on the log.

Let My Silhouette Friends Show You The Way!

I made this special card because I have been playing around with silhouette scenes for the last month over at Craft a Scene challenge blog.  Wendy at Digital Delights just came out with a number of great silhouette images and I just had to try a couple.

I added flowers punched from the EK Success retro flower punch, Martha Stewart leaves and a great Die-Namics lace doily.  I drew in the little stems and flowers and tapped in the blue around a cloud shape stencil to make the clouds.
