I finished it several weeks ago, but I could not share it until I presented it to her because she follows my work too.<br />
<br />
Here is the cover ......<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hOJgptX9JZc/VwVHnSCGdbI/AAAAAAAAItc/6JipI-iUN8wbeoS_Y0yaQ_GxnTUqAz_ug/s1600/Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="383" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hOJgptX9JZc/VwVHnSCGdbI/AAAAAAAAItc/6JipI-iUN8wbeoS_Y0yaQ_GxnTUqAz_ug/s400/Cover.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I cut the signature page down and glued the edges to the cover. <br />
This allows for tags and pretty ephemera to be inserted. <br />
Of course with this lovely vintage paper I had to add some lace.</td></tr>

I used a tutorial from Paper Phenomenon, the <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Traditions-Genealogy-Scrapbook-Tutorial-Video-Combo-tutvid00114.htm">Traditions Genealogy Scrapbook</a>. This tutorial was very easy to use and makes a great "larger" mini album. Here is the inside front cover......<br />

This is the inside front cover with Insert #5 tucked in the pocket from the<a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Photo-Mats-Inserts-1-Tutorial-tut0120.htm"> Photo Mats and Inserts #1</a> tutorial. I added Spellbinders heart die cuts to add the names of the Bride and Groom.<br />

Whew! That is a big scrapbook!<br />
<br />
My niece loved it and now needs a little help getter her pictures into the book. I guess I might be persuaded to make it back to San Diego for a visit as long as the weather is nice. Hope you enjoyed my latest scrapbook project using a Paper Phenomenon tutorial.<br />
<br />
Have a scrappy day!<br />

I want to venture deeper into art and begin to understand the process of art journalling. <br />
<br />
After taking Jane Davenport's Supplies Me class I have gathered many of the products that are needed, such as gesso (white, clear, black), gel mediums in both gloss and matt, a variety of acrylic paints and of course watercolour paints. Thanks to all my stamping and card making years I have plenty of paper, pens, markers and embellishments. So I am off and running......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5YEiEJodof0/VtBzWveB_pI/AAAAAAAAIso/npV5VGhf_i0/s1600/1stPageStart.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5YEiEJodof0/VtBzWveB_pI/AAAAAAAAIso/npV5VGhf_i0/s400/1stPageStart.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I picked up an 8x8 watercolour journal - the hand book paper co (Global Art Materials) from an art store in Nashville (I was just there for a conference). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Started by applying raised sections of wild flowers and random shapes on the page with several stencils and modelling paste (Tim Holtz and Balzer Designs)</li>
<li>Added a light wash of three colours.</li>
</ul>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jO7zs2g_jVM/VtB1C03KJ3I/AAAAAAAAIs8/rhjZg5EY1Rs/s1600/1stPageSpread.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jO7zs2g_jVM/VtB1C03KJ3I/AAAAAAAAIs8/rhjZg5EY1Rs/s400/1stPageSpread.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay now the real fun begins....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>I wanted lots of colourful flowers so I dabbed acrylic paint onto a large Donna Downey stencil in both red and green (then added a little bit of yellow).</li>
<li>I outlined all the flowers and stems with a xs Pitt Pen. I tried to smudge it but it didn't really work.</li>
<li>Next I randomly added some stencilled words with Distress Forest Moss and the words Inspire Yourself in black.</li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My journalling phrase is from Leonardo da Vinci:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
"I have been impressed with the urgency of DOING. Knowing is not enough, we must APPLY. Being willing is not enough, we must DO!"</div>
<div>

What do you think of my first ever journalling page? I guess all those classes and YouTube videos did come in handy. I plan to fill the whole 60 pages with art journal spreads so stay tuned for more!</div>

Have a great day!</div>

I realize that is a bit unusual for me considering that since I started blogging in January 2011 I have made 15-20 posts per month for most of that time.<br />
<br />
In 2014-2015 I gradually let go of all my design team commitments and focused on my work, family, and learning more about drawing and art in general. I also teamed up with a wonderful group of Certified Zentangle Teachers (CZTs) on Vancouver Island and we put on a fabulaous weekend retreat for Zentangle enthusiasts. For those who are interested, we will be announcing the Tangle Island retreat plans for 2016 on January 17th.<br />
<br />
If you have read my other posts about the online classes that I am taking then you already know about Jane Davenport and Joanne Sharpe. You might be interest in Joanne's <a href="http://joannesharpe.com/artfully-inspired-life-2016/">Artfully Inspired Life 2016</a> classes that will begin January 1st.<br />
<br />
Here is my latest homework from Joanne's Whimiscal Lettering class:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpKVFgJ1Cxw/VoK52uJJkEI/AAAAAAAAIq8/OL20E3rM8ck/s1600/Gratitude1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xpKVFgJ1Cxw/VoK52uJJkEI/AAAAAAAAIq8/OL20E3rM8ck/s320/Gratitude1.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each one is made with a different font emphasizing something that I am grateful for. Each of the fonts and techniques is taken from Joanne's book, The Art of Whimsical Lettering. I added my own doodles and drawings.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-us8x1TP8aCo/VoK52rPIORI/AAAAAAAAIrA/soZ2CkVCsG8/s1600/Gratitude3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-us8x1TP8aCo/VoK52rPIORI/AAAAAAAAIrA/soZ2CkVCsG8/s320/Gratitude3.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I listed the family members on the letters that came to mind when I made the family tag.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RaRbnY2xk78/VoK52x1OqAI/AAAAAAAAIrE/2URyqvmgieU/s1600/Gratitude2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RaRbnY2xk78/VoK52x1OqAI/AAAAAAAAIrE/2URyqvmgieU/s320/Gratitude2.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My sons names are printed on the slop of the letters.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
There is much more I am grateful for that isn't reflected in my font practice. For this exercise I used pre-purchased tags, twinkling H2Os, gel pens, Tombow Dual Brush Pens, Sharpie pens, and Peerless watercolors.<br />
<br />
Have a wonderful day!<br />

I can honestly say that I was an adult (about 20) before I actually saw snow falling from the sky. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where the temperatures are mild most of the year. When my family went to play in the snow (about 4 hours away), the snow was already on the ground. So, as you can imagine, snow is a big deal to me!<br />
<br />
I have already started to put our snow pictures in this album and I plan to bring it out to the coffee table at this time of the year so that we can look at and remember all our snow adventures. There is still space for more pictures and I can't wait to capture our next snowy trip.<br />

<br />
When I teach I also learn. I probably learn more than the students do in class. Why? Because I have to teach myself (or learn from others) whatever process or technique I am going to share. I need to have experienced it for myself and know how it feels, looks, tastes (maybe not), smells, and sounds. When I can do all that I think that I might have enough knowledge to actual impart the technique to others. Even with all that preparation I often am still learning as I share the technique with others. My students teach me too! This wonderful process of learning, sharing and learning more is what I love, love, love about teaching.<br />
<br />
This fall I have been focusing on shading Zentangle because I want to improve my skill AND because I was scheduled to teach a 4-week class at North Island College to a group of eager and attentive seniors. I have already shared with this audience some of my samples, but today I would like to share those of the students.<br />
<br />
First we learned to draw freehand a pumpkin string and then fill it with tangles. Next we shaded the tangles and the pumpkin roundness.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ixo9wuzRSjY/VkTSHoh2FbI/AAAAAAAAInY/7BQpDGrvTI0/s1600/Pumpkins.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ixo9wuzRSjY/VkTSHoh2FbI/AAAAAAAAInY/7BQpDGrvTI0/s400/Pumpkins.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Another lesson was about light source and we focused on adding great shadows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eqzUWoza3oo/VkTR8_JjXGI/AAAAAAAAInA/PTNCBQbe2w4/s1600/small%2BTangle%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-eqzUWoza3oo/VkTR8_JjXGI/AAAAAAAAInA/PTNCBQbe2w4/s400/small%2BTangle%2B1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another lesson included adding dimension by the shape and direction of our line before adding shading.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3CeiyL616Ck/VkTR-uQBn5I/AAAAAAAAInQ/7Hx7FAlLlT8/s1600/Hands.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3CeiyL616Ck/VkTR-uQBn5I/AAAAAAAAInQ/7Hx7FAlLlT8/s400/Hands.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
and finally, we explored shading with coloured pencil using three shades of the same colour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5zWDMlAbXJc/VkTR9mh1tMI/AAAAAAAAInI/blpMMchjtSI/s1600/Coloured%2Bshading.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5zWDMlAbXJc/VkTR9mh1tMI/AAAAAAAAInI/blpMMchjtSI/s400/Coloured%2Bshading.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a wonderful time and while I was learning more about shading I was also learning more about teaching. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Any comments you make about this post will be shared with my students. Thanks for stopping by and as always have a great day!</div>

"Why," you ask? My answer is, for three very important reasons:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>I never doodled as a child - never! I know this doesn't seem possible, but I didn't adulterate the sides of my papers in school. I have wondered if it was discouraged or if I got into trouble for having done it. I don't really remember, but anything that did not lead to concrete eduction was discouraged. Things like art and music were set aside in favour of math and science. I think my mother was trying to create something, and she did, but it wasn't someone who would follow the artistic path.</li>
<li>I wanted to learn to draw characters. I was (and still am) heavily involved in creating cards with lovely digital and rubber stamped images of people and creatures. I love to place them in interesting settings and colour with Copics or Tombows. I thought that it would be great if I could create and sell my own unique characters as digital images. If I could only draw!</li>
<li>Zentangle looked cool!</li>
</ol>
<div>
Fortunately for me, Barb Round from Campbell River was teaching a beginners class in my town within 2 weeks. I was delighted! Finally I would learn to draw! I took her beginner series of three classes and then took two more she offered over several weeks. I embraced Zentangle wholeheartedly making dozens of tiles and finally deciding that I wanted to be able to teach this method to others. In November 2013 I flew off to Road Island for Certified Zentangle Teacher training and became an official CZT.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I love Zentangle! It has opened my mind to other creative techniques such as using colour in Zentangle and even creating what we call ZIA - Zentangle Inspired Art. My hand - eye coordination has improved as well as my handwriting. I finally feel free to be creative and draw - freely draw with no constraints. I feel that Zentangle has opened my creative mind to be more artistically expressive.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There is just one problem! I would still like to learn to draw things such as trees, animals, landscapes and people. This is a long background story to tell you that I was back to the Internet and found a couple of online courses for drawing and lettering that I would like to share with you. Actually, this little journey started after viewing one of my favourite YouTube friends, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxdlH09hkhk">Sara from My Serenity Crafts</a> (check her out!).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, <a href="http://janedavenport.com/">Jane Davenport</a> from Australia has a wonderful set of classes - very low key and fun, on supplies and drawing, including drawing faces. I absolutely love her style and happy, colourful presentation. I started with her supplies class because I don't very much about all the different types of paint, markers and watercolours. She goes into depth and makes us students try them out to see what they do - very experiential. Here are a couple of pics from the early sessions ......</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We are cataloguing all the art supplies that we have on hand.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BnvtWICDwVI/VkIZNp3R1vI/AAAAAAAAIlM/-nLI-CaT64Q/s1600/Catalogue%2Bof%2BMarkers.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BnvtWICDwVI/VkIZNp3R1vI/AAAAAAAAIlM/-nLI-CaT64Q/s320/Catalogue%2Bof%2BMarkers.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jMQeZd3IDI0/VkIZNzbzypI/AAAAAAAAIlQ/QfITKe-QEhc/s1600/Gelly%2BPens.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jMQeZd3IDI0/VkIZNzbzypI/AAAAAAAAIlQ/QfITKe-QEhc/s320/Gelly%2BPens.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Gelly Roll Pens on Black Gesso and cardstock</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
Then she has us drawing our happy place. I am looking forward to comparing this drawing to a future version. My happy place is in the tall grass around the tall trees in my grandfather's apple orchard when I was 4-6 years old.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

The second class that I am taking is actually a book and book club on Facebook. <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/281449528664763/">Joanne Sharpe's</a> book The Art of Whimsical Lettering is amazing and helpful! We are currently working on sampling alphabet styles.</div>

I took my Micron pens and Zentangle tiles with me on vacation to California in October and had a great time tangling and drawing whatever my pen wanted to draw. I have also been posting on my Facebook page without making a blog post (sorry!).<br />
<br />
https://www.facebook.com/Crafting-Passions-210565732313545/<br />
<br />
This post is a little catchup on what I have been drawing and doing since the Tangle Island Retreat in September.<br />
<br />
This was an exercise in Inapod tangle and shading. I have found the greatest Fb page - https://www.facebook.com/groups/shadingzentangle/. It is all about shading and Eni Oaken provides excellent feedback and encouragement for everything that we post.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LcAeUlO7_YI/VjeKGSzZrvI/AAAAAAAAIkI/CagRlVoJwDs/s1600/InapodFlower_Sept2015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LcAeUlO7_YI/VjeKGSzZrvI/AAAAAAAAIkI/CagRlVoJwDs/s400/InapodFlower_Sept2015.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is another sample showing the before and after shading. The tangle is Hamadox, a combination of Rick's Paradox and Hamail.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Mj-YlGl4c/VjeKGaVcOYI/AAAAAAAAIkM/jI5xxqOfMd4/s1600/Hamadox_Unshaded.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Mj-YlGl4c/VjeKGaVcOYI/AAAAAAAAIkM/jI5xxqOfMd4/s320/Hamadox_Unshaded.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fAirREhd7RI/VjeKLO79dfI/AAAAAAAAIkc/M8DIfAsXOIQ/s1600/Hamadox_Shaded.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fAirREhd7RI/VjeKLO79dfI/AAAAAAAAIkc/M8DIfAsXOIQ/s400/Hamadox_Shaded.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is one I just finished and posted last night with Verve, Abundies, Flux, Diva Dance and Printemps.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RaMc1sIp2VQ/VjeTr1hnoUI/AAAAAAAAIkw/P2ohuvt9cuc/s1600/Verve_Oct2015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RaMc1sIp2VQ/VjeTr1hnoUI/AAAAAAAAIkw/P2ohuvt9cuc/s400/Verve_Oct2015.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have also been working with a little bit of color and working on stretching my drawing a bit. I received a little Prima journal in a mystery box and have dedicated it to the Crazy Birds and what I might do with them. In this case, I drew a tree around them and added the Tangle Poke Root for the leaves. It is all colored with my new Irojiten colored pencils.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gNgJaiA3dh8/VjeVJVh1BSI/AAAAAAAAIk8/d8cjXFvns4E/s1600/CrazyBirds_Oct2015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-gNgJaiA3dh8/VjeVJVh1BSI/AAAAAAAAIk8/d8cjXFvns4E/s400/CrazyBirds_Oct2015.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lastly, I will show you a drawing I did to emphasize color shading in a class I am teaching at North Island College this month. The tangle is simple (can't even remember the name), but I have used it to show using three pencil shades of one color - light, medium and dark, to work out the shading.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uxnz7qCXB2U/VjeKGrYQu9I/AAAAAAAAIkQ/_zfEcIcdzpo/s1600/ColorShading_Oct2015_scanned.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Uxnz7qCXB2U/VjeKGrYQu9I/AAAAAAAAIkQ/_zfEcIcdzpo/s400/ColorShading_Oct2015_scanned.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, I think that is enough catchup for today. Hopefully, my next post will be about a scrapbook that I have been working on for Christmas/Winter snow family pictures.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a great day!</div>

My last post told you about how I was planning for the Zentangle conference in Parksville and was it ever a resounding success. We had participants from all over who really enjoyed our classes and most of all the goodies and door prizes we handed out.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNH_28QQrKQ/VhBXgEGlbZI/AAAAAAAAIjU/xICCcUOYOnk/s1600/12010666_893797704035864_8922557646392913564_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LNH_28QQrKQ/VhBXgEGlbZI/AAAAAAAAIjU/xICCcUOYOnk/s400/12010666_893797704035864_8922557646392913564_o.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Big group photo on the last day.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />The classes where a hit for sure. On our private facebook page we are seeing lots of finished projects (very difficult to finish everything during class time) that are so beautiful it takes my breath away. There are so many talented people out there who have found an outlet for their creative side through Zentangle.<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is one of my pieces that I created after the retreat was over with techniques from Barb Round's class.....</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Many of the students have been asking if the Tangle Island Team will do another retreat next year and it is a resounding YES! Some of us may take on lesser roles but we all enjoyed teaching and sharing our individual specialities.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stay tuned for information about next years' Tangle Island Retreat.</div>

If you are a follower of mine you are probably wondering what has happened to my regular posting. The answer is, I have been very busy planning and preparing for the Tangle Island Retreat at the Parksville Beach Club Resort scheduled for September 18, 19 and 20.<br />
<br />
Yes, this is a Zentangle retreat where 6 island Certified Zentangle Teachers will be leading classes in fabulous techniques and Zentangle fun. We will be learning new tangles, shading strokes, mixed media, watercolor, card making ideas and much more. I think there might be one or two spots left, so if you are interested please visit <a href="http://tangleisland.blogspot.com/">tangleisland.blogspot.com</a> and register today.<br />
<br />
Here are a few pics of our planning and preparation, and my practice drawing:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Can you guess what I might be doing with this?</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c8voOOEMPXI/Vfbf_idVFZI/AAAAAAAAIiQ/nTKEkYA40us/s1600/MookaPlay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-c8voOOEMPXI/Vfbf_idVFZI/AAAAAAAAIiQ/nTKEkYA40us/s320/MookaPlay.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And here is one more....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EBqmuE_FzFs/VfbinDvalSI/AAAAAAAAIic/sdDZAdDECIQ/s1600/InapodFlower_Sept2015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EBqmuE_FzFs/VfbinDvalSI/AAAAAAAAIic/sdDZAdDECIQ/s320/InapodFlower_Sept2015.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We are going to have such fun visiting and learning from each other. We have a wonderful group of folks registered for the first every Tangle Island Retreat. Interested Tanglers are coming from the local area, Vancouver area, Calgary, Ontario, Washington, California, Nevada, Kansas, Texas, and Tennessee. Amazing!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After the retreat my hubby and I are skipping town and visiting family in California for two weeks culminating with celebrating the 120th anniversary of Yosemite becoming a national park. We actually have a camping reservation on the valley floor! Yosemite is one of my favorite places to visit and we have many happy memories hiking and backpacking around the area.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, I should be posting pictures of the retreat on the weekend and then stay tuned for my trip pics!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have a great day!</div>

I have been having fun creating a mini album with a Steampunk theme. This style has definitely caught me up into the Steampunk craze of 1890's mechanical. Gears and a little rust go a long way! <br />
<br />
I used the <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Classic-Handbag-Madamoiselle-Tutorial-Video-Combo-tutvid036.htm">Classic Handbag</a> tutorial from Paper Phenomenon without the handbag closure of course. I also added 1 inch to the width of the base pages so that I could get more 4x6 photos into the album.<br />
<br />
Here is the cover with all its wonderful cogs and gears.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DOj-44tWGaI/VcebaN6ESyI/AAAAAAAAIeM/HiKvzoX4nIk/s1600/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DOj-44tWGaI/VcebaN6ESyI/AAAAAAAAIeM/HiKvzoX4nIk/s400/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B084.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--TqgwWZf2Pk/VcedYW7dyVI/AAAAAAAAIeY/t3EFUs2gEY4/s1600/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B085.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/--TqgwWZf2Pk/VcedYW7dyVI/AAAAAAAAIeY/t3EFUs2gEY4/s320/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B085.JPG" width="240" /></a><br />
I used a lot of goodies on the cover alone....<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Creative clocks and corners from Butterbee Scraps </li>
<li>Gear Assembly die cut from Memory Box</li>
<li>Cuttlebug embossing folder on the tag</li>
<li>Metal key and brads from Michael's</li>
<li>Paper line is Kaiser Kraft Betsie's Couture</li>
<li>Everything is inked with Distress Brushed Corduroy</li>
<li>I inked the gears with Inca Gold Turquoise and Copper</li>
<li>The pin is from Prima</li>
</ul>
<div>
The clock at the top rotates!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EuYB5xt6mtM/Vceem5zx8qI/AAAAAAAAIeo/TCcWG2JuwyU/s1600/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EuYB5xt6mtM/Vceem5zx8qI/AAAAAAAAIeo/TCcWG2JuwyU/s400/SteamPunk%2BBook%2B088.JPG" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Inside cover pocket with goodies!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div>
This is the first page with all its flaps and pockets.......</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
I used Sizzix Trellis die on the pocket after rubbing with Inka Gold Turquoise and Copper. The tag is embossed with a Darcie embossing folder. The tag in the top pocket is cut with the Steampunk "on the edge" dies from Tim Holtz (also added Glossy Accents) and finally the large tag in the pocket is cut with the EK Success scroll edge punch.<br />

A friend of mine (Linda) was over and she showed me a few ideas on how to get started. It was loads of fun and very easy to do.<br />
<br />
Linda brought little packets of papers, fibres and trinkets. Each packet was slightly different and of course each artist will interpret and use the items differently according to their style. Our tools were glue stick, liquid glue, staples, and a micron pen (to Zentangle). I know there is a lot more that can be done with Gesso, paints and stencils, but this is just a beginning.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1FKuq_mNpG8/VbZYOEe7nxI/AAAAAAAAIdM/noOzBYtGqhM/s1600/MixedMedia_Linda.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1FKuq_mNpG8/VbZYOEe7nxI/AAAAAAAAIdM/noOzBYtGqhM/s400/MixedMedia_Linda.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I picked out papers that "spoke" to me and cut or tore sections to add to my 5x7 chipboard piece. I arranged them in whatever way made sense to me. I like dimension so I added a curled up piece of netting and sparkling star on one side and a folded napkin on the other side. Then we added Tangles to spice it up!<br />
<br />
When we are finished we will coat everything with Mod Podge (I haven't done that part yet). In the end, I kinda think my piece tells a story. It's a little corny, but here goes......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We are all like a little fish who is on a life journey.<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6qCwsq6vWfA/VbZa2PHQV-I/AAAAAAAAIdY/cIXEH6TOgTo/s1600/MM_FishPart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6qCwsq6vWfA/VbZa2PHQV-I/AAAAAAAAIdY/cIXEH6TOgTo/s200/MM_FishPart.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sometimes she will face obstacles, </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
but if she pushes through them she will be the star of own story. </div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Along the journey she might be delayed by her own struggles (nets),<br />
but she was given the building materials to make our own life story.<br />
<br />
If she perseveres she will have the joy of blossoming into a unique and special person.</div>
<br />
I'll end on that corn fed note with .... Have a scrapping great day!<br />

I have made several banners of course, but I was recently challenged to come up with my own scrapbook album design and I wondered if anyone had used this board to make a mini. I searched Pinterest and Youtube and the answer is no, so I think this makes me the first designer to create a mini album from the Banner Board.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JxgmO0AeVKk/VZ_qs6cwZ0I/AAAAAAAAIZ8/SldQtICBPkw/s1600/Projects%2B053.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-JxgmO0AeVKk/VZ_qs6cwZ0I/AAAAAAAAIZ8/SldQtICBPkw/s400/Projects%2B053.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I made a 5 page album that is 7 1/2 x 11 inches. There are three pages in the Flag banner style and 2 in the Pennant style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCNnBxrfiI4/VZ_sQ-jdOHI/AAAAAAAAIaM/B9fsiJkHsno/s1600/Projects%2B002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCNnBxrfiI4/VZ_sQ-jdOHI/AAAAAAAAIaM/B9fsiJkHsno/s200/Projects%2B002.JPG" width="150" /></a></div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
I used Kathy Orta's hidden hinge binding system to attach the pages to the album cover. The paper collection is Nautical from Fancy Pants Designs. I pick up a mega set from Steals.com with all the papers, chipboard, stickers, buttons, photo frames and pocket cards.<br />
<br />
Here is the inside front cover with hidden pocket and folded tag.<br />

This was a super quick and fun album to make. I am working on a tutorial that I will give away for FREE to anyone who likes my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/Crafting-Passions/210565732313545">Crafting Passions Facebook page</a> (don't forget to private pm me your email address). The Free tutorial will be sent out on Sunday, July 19th.<br />

As a Zentangle artist I like to draw new patterns and add to my growing list of favorites. I am seeing the most amazing results when I combine my love of paper arts with Zentangle drawing.<br />
<br />
Today I would like to share with you a pop-up card decorated with Prima papers and sea oriented Tangle patterns. In the Zentangle world this is referred to as a ZIA, Zentangle Inspired Art.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wgemJPlCuO0/VZ6PC8KvUiI/AAAAAAAAIY0/_YzaJTNXZfw/s1600/Box%2B003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wgemJPlCuO0/VZ6PC8KvUiI/AAAAAAAAIY0/_YzaJTNXZfw/s400/Box%2B003.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
Ordinarily, I would fill the center with lots of images sticking out, and I will, I just though you would like to see the basic design first.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ztmypMNj9tw/VZ6PDEbj67I/AAAAAAAAIY4/awcU5HWVJuc/s1600/Box%2B005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ztmypMNj9tw/VZ6PDEbj67I/AAAAAAAAIY4/awcU5HWVJuc/s400/Box%2B005.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The top flaps have two layers of Prima Seashore papers and then a Bijou tile Tangled with different designs. Tangles included are Mooka, Roxi, Kelp, Indy-rella, and Squid.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LD96Rt4M-lw/VZ6PC3cItjI/AAAAAAAAIY8/wSk98c7SsKU/s1600/Box%2B008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LD96Rt4M-lw/VZ6PC3cItjI/AAAAAAAAIY8/wSk98c7SsKU/s400/Box%2B008.JPG" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I Tangled an underwater scene around the base of the box before putting it together. Tangles included are those named above as well as Phicops, Printempts, Moon Pie, Tipple, Sanibelle. I lightly colored the scene with chalk pencils.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SRGc3ZIXNlM/VZ6QXrlGCWI/AAAAAAAAIZQ/JVIt-__TGws/s1600/Projects%2B049.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SRGc3ZIXNlM/VZ6QXrlGCWI/AAAAAAAAIZQ/JVIt-__TGws/s400/Projects%2B049.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-563AlREpiEE/VZ6QX154XlI/AAAAAAAAIZY/rC9Y6KLok3c/s1600/Projects%2B050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-563AlREpiEE/VZ6QX154XlI/AAAAAAAAIZY/rC9Y6KLok3c/s400/Projects%2B050.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-72bUQoYy9lM/VZ6QX8BOqcI/AAAAAAAAIZU/J-CrZmeTmyc/s1600/Projects%2B051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-72bUQoYy9lM/VZ6QX8BOqcI/AAAAAAAAIZU/J-CrZmeTmyc/s400/Projects%2B051.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The beauty of a Pop Up Box card is that it folds flat and can be sent to someone through the mail in a regular envelope.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fEOkEtp5y3c/VZ6RE1G-8-I/AAAAAAAAIZo/eUUXpJ71o30/s1600/Box%2B009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fEOkEtp5y3c/VZ6RE1G-8-I/AAAAAAAAIZo/eUUXpJ71o30/s400/Box%2B009.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I wrote a tutorial years ago on how to construct the Pop Up Box. You can view the <a href="http://craftingpassions.blogspot.ca/2013/11/a-christmas-hostess.html">tutorial here</a><span id="goog_1668007219"></span><span id="goog_1668007220"></span><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a>.<br />
<br />
A Zentangle Pop Up Box is a great way to share your love of Tangling and give a unique card to your favorite person.<br />
<br />
I'll be entering this card into a few challenges:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li><a href="http://crafterscafeblogchallenge.blogspot.ca/">Crafter's Cafe</a> - Multiple folds</li>
<li><a href="http://craftygalscornerchallenges.blogspot.ca/">Crafty Gals Corner</a> - Under the sea</li>
<li><a href="http://doubleclickconnections.blogspot.ca/">DoubleClick Skittles</a> - from the ocean</li>
<li><a href="http://lilredwagon.blogspot.ca/">Little Red Wagon </a>- Birthday Theme</li>
<li><a href="http://thesisterhoodofcrafters.blogspot.ca/">Sisterhood of Crafters</a> - Birthday</li>
</ul>
<br />
Happy Tangling!<br />

I explored lots of ideas on Pinterest and Youtube and there are two designer ideas that I want to try. The first is Laura Denison's <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2Ni4pietMA">Foliope</a> using any size envelope and glueing the top flap to each envelope (see below). The second is Kathy Orta's envelope mini that she made on Youtube a few years ago. I find that most of the envelope mini's were made between 2011-12. I am just now catching up!<br />
<br />
Today I am sharing a mini album using 5 x 6 1/2 envelopes from Michael's, and My Minds Eye Kate & Co papers and chipboard pieces.<br />

But alas, time flies by and it has been a few weeks since I last posted a project.<br />
<br />
This mini is from <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Tutorial-Video-Combo-Minutes-to-Memories-TUTVID0103.htm">Kathy Orta's new Minutes to Memories tutorial</a>. It is a very fast project using a sewn in binding and pocket pages combined with large envelopes. I was able to construct the base album in one evening.<br />
<br />
I used Simple Stories "Take a Hike" paper collection and Snap Pages. The large envelopes are from the BoBunny MiscMe collection. The cover looks pretty plain at this point because I will be adding a large picture of the family around the camp fire and probably some twigs and other woodsie embellishments. Yes, that is burlap on the spine.<br />
<br />

<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
The inside front cover has a very nice angle pocket for extra tags or memorabilia.</div>

I never realized how quick a pocket page (or project life) style was put together. Just cut the pretty paper and pictures to size and slip them in the pockets - no glueing!</div>

This is such a great, easy scrapbook to make using just pocket pages and large envelopes. I can't wait to get my photos organized and into this book!<br />
<br />
Have a wonderful scrappy day!<br />

The amount of paper and supplies we get is amazing and very generous. My project today is from <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/The-Convertible-Album-featuring-the-Convertible-Hinge-TUT080.htm">Kit Club #11 - The Convertible Album</a> and it looks like a ladies handbag.<br />
<br />
I think the reason it is called the convertible album is because you can choose to make it into the purse shape or leave off the closure and handle and just make the wonderful album. The project also uses a chipboard speciality album with the pieces inserted throughout with a special hinge that Kathy's shows us how to make.<br />
<br />
Enough talk..... here is my decorating take on the Convertible Mini......<br />
I decorated some like Kathy and some like me.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-awu_u0CMr3Y/VXCO3cHTVEI/AAAAAAAAISY/-uIzLXS5GRY/s1600/IPhonePics_June2015%2B282.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-awu_u0CMr3Y/VXCO3cHTVEI/AAAAAAAAISY/-uIzLXS5GRY/s400/IPhonePics_June2015%2B282.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Here is the back</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Just a note about the pages. The 100 Days of Summer album came out before I started this one and I used the stacked pockets idea in my convertible album.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IXlULpngCEI/VXCSMCBTmEI/AAAAAAAAISw/wTswT1PmOJk/s1600/IPhonePics_June2015%2B284.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IXlULpngCEI/VXCSMCBTmEI/AAAAAAAAISw/wTswT1PmOJk/s320/IPhonePics_June2015%2B284.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Inside first cover and first page</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q0ZDx94WIEk/VXCSL6zw8rI/AAAAAAAAISo/27NcnohFg1Q/s1600/IPhonePics_June2015%2B285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q0ZDx94WIEk/VXCSL6zw8rI/AAAAAAAAISo/27NcnohFg1Q/s320/IPhonePics_June2015%2B285.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is where you can see the stacked pockets I added to the design of the mini. It just gives more space for tags and that means we can add more pictures.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D9dkRTBBlBo/VXCSMJU_8-I/AAAAAAAAISs/C9XenJ1ygYw/s1600/IPhonePics_June2015%2B286.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D9dkRTBBlBo/VXCSMJU_8-I/AAAAAAAAISs/C9XenJ1ygYw/s320/IPhonePics_June2015%2B286.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
On this page I cut out the round slides "thingy" and attached it to the pocket so that it made another pocket.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I made a fancy tag for this page that opens up and has pockets.</td></tr>

<br /></div>
My mini album today features a BoBunny collection and a wonderful kit and tutorial Kathy Orta called <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Life-in-Retrospect-TUT0100.htm">Life in Retrospect.</a> The color combination is fun and youthful making this an album that could be used for almost any age or occasion.<br />
<br />
I made the cover a little different than the tutorial with just one picture frame and place for a title or another picture. And since the paper line sports wonderful feathers I decided to add a few with beads to dangle from the cover.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vD6olpDjKpw/VWcieRadddI/AAAAAAAAIPI/7wSrl4KHltk/s1600/Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vD6olpDjKpw/VWcieRadddI/AAAAAAAAIPI/7wSrl4KHltk/s400/Cover.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The frame on the cover is made so that you can easily slip a 3x5 picture in and even switch it out occasionally. This is a gate fold style that comes together in the center, secured with magnets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6QNufbxnu50/VWcieVIrxLI/AAAAAAAAIPM/xA77cllyHhE/s1600/Side.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6QNufbxnu50/VWcieVIrxLI/AAAAAAAAIPM/xA77cllyHhE/s320/Side.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love this design! It has so many tags and places for photos that I counted 24 spaces on each page and there are six pages, which means 144 photos to tell a story of an event or a person. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here are the pictures of the first page. The left side is a flap that has a folded tag slipped into a belly band and on the back side of the flap is another belly band that hold two folded tags. Right away that is room for at least 8-10 photos.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dNhObFZEyLs/VWclhs3DZDI/AAAAAAAAIPk/jv7Jqjul_7Y/s1600/Page1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dNhObFZEyLs/VWclhs3DZDI/AAAAAAAAIPk/jv7Jqjul_7Y/s400/Page1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Under the flap is the base page with a pocket flap folding from the right side. In front of the pocket is a little pocket that holds more tags and memorabilia. The flap itself is a pocket which means you can add more tags. That is just tagalicious!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Mhf-bOFMSM/VWclhrtUNrI/AAAAAAAAIPo/KUM_eo6KJss/s1600/Page1_Inside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0Mhf-bOFMSM/VWclhrtUNrI/AAAAAAAAIPo/KUM_eo6KJss/s400/Page1_Inside.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The backside of the page is made of Kathy's signature stacked pockets making room for much larger tags to hold more photos and journaling.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xK4C8ZXRx_Q/VWcmrJ9ubYI/AAAAAAAAIP4/vWO6vOqRHes/s1600/Page2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xK4C8ZXRx_Q/VWcmrJ9ubYI/AAAAAAAAIP4/vWO6vOqRHes/s400/Page2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can't really see in this picture but the left side is the back of page one with the stacked pockets. To top it all off, the page mechanism itself forms a pocket where I slipped a very large folded and pocketed tag. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These pictures represent the general construction of each of the six pages. Here are the rest of the pictures....</div>

I have been scouting Pinterest and YouTube for months now to learn how to work with clay to make all kinds of interesting things such as journal covers. I first blogged about this back in <a href="http://craftingpassions.blogspot.ca/2015/02/playing-with-new-toys-sculpey-clay.html">February</a> and if you look back you can see how far I have come since then.<br />
<br />
I like to draw using the Zentangle method and I am always looking for cool paper to make into a Zentangle journal. When I saw the journal covers by <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/mandarinduck/journals-by-mandarinduck/">The Mandarin Duck</a> and <a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/494621971549602593/">The Mandarin M<span id="goog_1533012069"></span><span id="goog_1533012070"></span>oon</a>, I knew I had to give it a try.<br />
<br />
Well here goes, my first two journal covers.....<br />
<br />
On this first one, I used black Sculpey III rolled out to 4 x 6 1/4. I sectioned off an area for sand and an area for sea. I used PanPastels to colour both areas and then began adding my gems, charms and shells. I finished off with a little Perfect Pearls for shine and more colour in some areas. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ns7NIvuOJNo/VV5j8XYwUVI/AAAAAAAAIOw/mEqEFzBbhLY/s1600/SeaCover1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ns7NIvuOJNo/VV5j8XYwUVI/AAAAAAAAIOw/mEqEFzBbhLY/s400/SeaCover1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
This second attempt is coloured with Perfect Pearls. I used a mould for a couple of the shells you see on both covers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qsXMnCXZfro/VV5j8bDJcLI/AAAAAAAAIOs/JDGFMKwehnI/s1600/SeaCover2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qsXMnCXZfro/VV5j8bDJcLI/AAAAAAAAIOs/JDGFMKwehnI/s400/SeaCover2.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I still have to seal them and glue down to the journals. I am going to keep one for myself but the others will be available to my Zentangle students for purchase. Let me know if you want one too.<br />
<br />
I'll be back when I have more clay journals to share.<br />

<br />
I have finally completed my Exploding Box Picnic Basket and want to share it with you today. I started this project at a local crop several weeks ago, but just couldn't finish because I spent so much time talking to my table mates and getting to know them. It was really a fun time, but I don't think I should count on finishing any projects at crops.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Martha Stewart edge punch and rick-rack for the basket lid trim.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BZd5TVV51hE/VV4H_Gv0puI/AAAAAAAAINE/hhuFH2y7w-M/s1600/Basket2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BZd5TVV51hE/VV4H_Gv0puI/AAAAAAAAINE/hhuFH2y7w-M/s400/Basket2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I used 3 sheets of 12x12 papers to make the basket-weave cover.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
When Kathy Orta first created this tutorial she made it up as an <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=easter+basket">Easter Basket</a>, but since I was using the Graphic 45 Home Sweet Home Collection I thought it would work better as a picnic basket.<br />
<br />
I did however, have a terrible time finding plastic fruit/food for the top of the basket. It seems the 70's really are gone (yay!). I remember as a kid that almost every parent or grandparent had a basket of plastic fruit on a table, but I could only find grapes at the dollar store!<br />
<br />
Here is an inside look.....<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Remove the lid and three layers open up on the table.</td></tr>

This is the CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) continuing education put on my Elaine Huffman. 114 CZT came together for more learning, fun, Santa Fe sights and food (of course!). Three of us from Vancouver Island were present: Barb Round, Marie Browning and Me!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BtJXRunU18/VTupGL_eApI/AAAAAAAAILg/TS_hkkwBD4U/s1600/TheTeam.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5BtJXRunU18/VTupGL_eApI/AAAAAAAAILg/TS_hkkwBD4U/s1600/TheTeam.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
My hubby came too and we met lots of new people and made a new friendship with Char and Mike from California, and Sheila and John from Ontario. The guys drove around New Mexico while the ladies enjoyed fabulous classes. On the way to dinner one night I found these interesting ladies pants. The design is a lot like the Tangle pattern Printemps.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wtF4PTMwGsA/VTusCIz5bkI/AAAAAAAAIMY/5VUgzTiP5c4/s1600/Printemps.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wtF4PTMwGsA/VTusCIz5bkI/AAAAAAAAIMY/5VUgzTiP5c4/s1600/Printemps.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Friday morning we woke to SNOW! I couldn't believe that I had to travel over 1000 miles just to get snow. There hasn't been any in my town of Courtenay this year and we usually get a least two little snows! It didn't last long, but it was a surprise!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G6l5ec0QoiI/VTup2CE9GkI/AAAAAAAAILo/DOiIHtllDLY/s1600/Snow.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-G6l5ec0QoiI/VTup2CE9GkI/AAAAAAAAILo/DOiIHtllDLY/s1600/Snow.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
All the classes and sharing opportunities were fabulous! I learned so much that I am trying to debrief through all the materials I brought home so that I don't forget too much. My favourite class was with Sharla Hicks from Southern California. The most inspiring quote of the day for me was her comment that "more is more".<br />
She encouraged us to add elements to the foreground and background of our piece. This is from my notebook and represents some of what she taught.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TtUuNUQIvnc/VTuqoCNblKI/AAAAAAAAIL0/sG98POOjWEw/s1600/More_is_More.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TtUuNUQIvnc/VTuqoCNblKI/AAAAAAAAIL0/sG98POOjWEw/s1600/More_is_More.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Since I have been home I made another attempt at the techniques and I really like what is happening to my drawing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y1qXYI0Ihss/VTuqoBC49JI/AAAAAAAAILw/LD9xVSebyg4/s1600/Botanical_Sharla.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y1qXYI0Ihss/VTuqoBC49JI/AAAAAAAAILw/LD9xVSebyg4/s1600/Botanical_Sharla.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, all good things have to come to an end and on Sunday we said our goodbye's. We left amid hugs and email exchanges and hopes of seeing each other again at the next Tangle U.<br />
<br />
On the way to the airport Dave and I decided to drive the old road called the Turquoise Trail instead of the main highway from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. We stopped at a vary small town to see what there was and snapped this pic of Dave in front of an old engine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_9NUbm9Zk04/VTurYuS2lzI/AAAAAAAAIMA/A3SIhzd4VIQ/s1600/TourquiseTrail.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_9NUbm9Zk04/VTurYuS2lzI/AAAAAAAAIMA/A3SIhzd4VIQ/s1600/TourquiseTrail.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
We couldn't help stopping at the next little town of Madrid. Turns out this is the town where Wild Hogs was filmed! Apparently Maggie's Diner has never been a dinner but a little town store.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I'll leave you with a picture of all the Talavera swamp tiles that we exchanged between us all. And if you are a CZT, I look forward to seeing you at the next Tangle U in Maine!<br />
<br />

This one is a beautiful butterfly and suitable for this weeks <a href="http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.ca/2015/04/weekly-challenge-213.html">Diva Challenge</a>. We are to trace an object to use as our string.<br />
<br />

<br />
Tangles used are Ennes, Brayd, Floorz, and Shattuk. You can find step-outs for these tangle on <a href="http://tanglepatterns.com/">TanglePatterns.com</a>.<br />
<br />
I'll be heading out to Santa Fe, New Mexico on Thursday just in time for Tangle U 2015. I hope to meet many more CZTs and find more enticing art goodies like these Dream Weave stencils.<br />
<br />
Happy Tangling!<br />

I made a practical and pretty birthday reminder book to help me keep track of all the birth dates for family and extended family.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AcwzNQmMQBQ/VSvq1yhE0GI/AAAAAAAAIJc/Qzwxy6pANTc/s1600/Front_Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AcwzNQmMQBQ/VSvq1yhE0GI/AAAAAAAAIJc/Qzwxy6pANTc/s1600/Front_Cover.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This is the front cover of the folio (no hard chipboard covers this time). I used Pebbles Birthday Wishes paper pad and the Paper Phenomenon <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Foto-Folios-2-TUT095.htm?categoryId=-1">Foto Folios #2 Style 5</a> tutorial.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CrlDb_PZU3s/VSvq1_QEKLI/AAAAAAAAIJY/kG0JOSdBPxk/s1600/Back_Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-CrlDb_PZU3s/VSvq1_QEKLI/AAAAAAAAIJY/kG0JOSdBPxk/s1600/Back_Cover.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Back cover</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is a big folio! Here is the book in the first open position. There is place for tags or cards or anything I want to put in the pockets.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V65vKtB02Ag/VSvtrbhwp-I/AAAAAAAAIJs/C-UB7VDhL04/s1600/Book_Open.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-V65vKtB02Ag/VSvtrbhwp-I/AAAAAAAAIJs/C-UB7VDhL04/s1600/Book_Open.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Open up the two sides and you can see the whole spread, Whew! It is very long but holds information for all 12 months in one neat place.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YNUZzQTK7gQ/VSvt-F6KupI/AAAAAAAAIJ0/fAcoHO-nJzs/s1600/FullOpen.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YNUZzQTK7gQ/VSvt-F6KupI/AAAAAAAAIJ0/fAcoHO-nJzs/s1600/FullOpen.jpg" height="146" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Each month has its own pocket. There is place for pictures on the front and back of each pocket - the pockets flip down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In each pocket is a folded tag for each month. On this tag I plan to put a calendar with all the birth dates for that month. There is lots of room so I also plan to put pictures of the family members with a birthday that month. Here are a few close ups of the pages.....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Underneath all the pockets I made acetate pockets to hold pre-made birthday cards. After all, what's the point of knowing the birth date if I don't actually send out a card! lol!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Making this was easy from Kathy's great tutorial and I had a lot of fun making such a practical reminder. Now I just need to get all the birth dates put on the calendars!</div>

This one is happy, happy, happy, with citrus colours and retro graphics. The paper collection is from We R Memory Keepers - Feelin' Groovy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HzFVHD87azs/VR2pKSDoDOI/AAAAAAAAIH8/Eo5CTNbB_ZM/s1600/Cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HzFVHD87azs/VR2pKSDoDOI/AAAAAAAAIH8/Eo5CTNbB_ZM/s1600/Cover.jpg" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
I guess this paper makes me think of the Partridge Family TV show and maybe the Brady Bunch with the bright happy colours and lots of big flowers. Can't you just see Jan in a pair of bell-bottoms with these big flowers?<br />
<br />
I used the new <a href="http://shop.paperphenomenon.com/Digital-Kit-Club-13-Jan-Mar-2015-EKC13D.htm">Paper Phenomenon kit club</a> album, Life in Retrospect, as my tutorial. I only made 4 pages and a single chipboard cover. This is a slight variation from the original tutorial. Here are the pages from the album......<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

I only learned about and fell in love with Graphic 45 early last year and by then it was too late to purchase collections that I was seeing and loving on Pinterest and YouTube. Graphic 45 re-released this collection and naturally, I made a new mini album!<br />

This is my third album using the Paper Phenomenon "Max Your Mini" AKA "Witches Brew" album tutorial. The page size is 8x8 making the album 8 1/2 x 8 1/2. I think this is the perfect size for a smaller mini. Big enough for 4x6 photos and small enough to maintain the cuteness factor.</div>
