It's a Celebration Blog Hop! June 30th to July 1st

Hello everyone and welcome to the Digital Delights - It's a Celebration Blog Hop - June 30th to July 1st, 2011. This is a 2 day hop to help you get through all 30 of our talented designers, collect your letters and enter to win the grand prize!

If you came here from Melissa S. then you are in the right spot! If you have just come across this posting while browsing around in blog land then start at the top so you don't miss all of the amazing projects!

The theme of this hop is CELEBRATIONS!!

At Digital Delights by Louby Loo, we are celebrating the new store! Wendy (aka Louby Loo) just completed the move to a new and improved store! In honor of this, each stop along the way will have a Digital Delights stamp from their project to be given away. There are amazing sponsors for the grand prize at the end.

This is a hop with a different twist as along the hop there are letters to find in the postings - not all blogs have the letters but if you gather all the letters then at the end of the hop on day 2 assemble them to create a Digital Delights related word. You then return to the Digital Delights blog and enter your name in the inlinks at the bottom of the post (do not reveal the secret word yet). After the hop you will be contacted if you are selected at random--at which point you will be asked to reveal the correct word.

Now on to my project.....

He's Getting Married

Yes, that's right.  My youngest son, Phillip got himself engaged last week.  The wedding is planned to be a low-key affair at the beach with just a few family and friends on AUGUST 6th.  Yes, in less than 6 weeks!

Consequently, everyone pitched in to make the invitations this weekend.  My son and I arranged everything on the computer and printed what we needed.  My husband cut everything out.  The bride-to-be distressed the edges and tied the bows.  My son glued everything down and I ran the Cuttlebug embossing all the parts.  Here is what we came up with.....

Beach heart picture is courtesy of the Internet

Here is the inside with the invitation part.  The flourish is from Technique Tuesday.

All the envelopes were distressed and a flourish added.  The bride hand wrote the addresses.

We included an RSVP card and directions to the beach.
Once we figured out what the bride and groom wanted, and found all the parts the rest was easy.  With every one's help we completed 40 invitations in just 3 1/5 hours.  Whew!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Technique Tuesday Fanfare
CS and Papers: Bazzill and printer paper
Ink: Distress Vintage Photo
Access. and Embellishments: Hemp, Cuttlebug folder

As an active blogger you must excuse the need to enter the invitation into a few challenges:
I am really looking forward to this beachy wedding.
Have a great day!

New Baby Card

Today's card is for a new baby coming to my work family.  I recently made a crocheted blanket for the new babe coming in August and I thought I had better get going on the card because the shower is in a couple of weeks. The blanket is white and yellow so this card will go perfectly.

I used Digital Delights Little Dumpling digi image as my center piece.  I wanted to do up a simple card for a change and just popped the little guy up with Spellbinders Small Scalloped Rectangles.  The sentiment is from Elusive Images (2006) and it is layered on Spellbinders Fancy Tags.

Card Recipe:
DD Stamps: Little Dumpling
CS and Papers: Bazzill
Ink: Distress Brick Red
Markers: Copics - E00, E01, E02, R29, C1, C3
Access. And Embellishments: Spellbinders dies

Ok, so having posted three Wee Stamp cards in a row, I might have to admit that I bought quite a few of the Wee Stamp images.  I couldn't help myself!  They are sooooo cute!

This little girl just cries out for as many flowers as she can get.  Makes me think of my grand daughter Jade-Marie, age 6, who has a fixation about flowers.  She will pick anything that is in bloom - including dandelions and expect to have them put in a vase and admired.  Oh, to be that young and Innocent again!

Card Recipe:

Flower Pot Paper Piecing

Join us this week at Delightful Challenges for Anything Goes.

My card is a paper pieced card using the wonderful image from the Flower Pot Faces Collection.  I decided that I just had to include the digi papers from the Flower Pot Faces Paper so I used them to form the flower petals.

Card Recipe
DD Stamps: Flower Pot Faces
CS and Papers: FPF digi papers, So Saffron, Wild Wasbe
Ink: Distress Tea Die
Markers: Copic R29
Access. And Embellishments: BoBunny Ribbon
Special Techniques: Paper Piecing

Just in case you are not sure how to get the Flower Pot image onto the designer paper I will show you what I did.  There are probably better methods, but this worked for me.

First, I printed off a set of the FPF digi paper on regular printer paper.  Then I used MS Word to format two side-by-side images of the flower I wanted to use and printed a copy.

Next, I cut squares of paper to tape over the section of the flower that I needed for layering.  I put the same sheet back in my printer and printed it again.

Well, if you look at this picture you will see that I made a mistake and did not tape down the paper very well.  But it is not a loss, because I really only need the face for the next layer.  Sometimes, mistakes work out ok.

Then I cut out each of the pieces and layered them up for the finished flower.

Birthday Winner!

Yesterday was my birthday and my wonderful husband arranged for the whole family to be together for a BBQ.  We had a great time in the yard throwing the frisbee and running around with the grand kids.

My daughter's in law and daughter planned all the food and my second son did all the grilling.  After dinner we sat around and got caught up with everything going on in the lives of our four children.  It was a very special day for me.

On top of the wonderful time with my family I noticed my phone blinking and checked the emails to see that my Happy Dance Nesbitt Father's Day card was chosen as the winner over at Stamps R Us.  This was my first DT card for Delightful Challenges. A fantastic end to a fantastic day!

I am feeling very warm and fuzzy.  Have a great day!

Do Not Be Anxious!

This verse found in Philippians is such a good reminder.  I don't usually have a problem being anxious but once in a while everything seems bigger than it is and I need to be reminded to give thanks and let God work it all out.

I used the Mojo Monday #194 sketch as my design guide and used some new papers that I have been wanting to get on a card.  I bought them at a scrapbook store in Parksville already cut into 6x6 squares and I think it might be part of the Fairy Flora collection from Prima.

Card Recipe

Image: Our Daily Bread Designs - Scripture Collection #4
Papers: SU Wild Wasbie, Bazzill, Prima Fairy Flora Collection
Ink: Close to Cocoa and Distress Ink - Brushed Corduroy
Embellishments: KaiserCraft Grosgrain Ribbon, Prima Pearls, lace from Fabricland,
Making Memories Leaf Pins, MS edge punch

This card is for the following challenges:
I'll be back on Thursday with my first Delightful Challenges card.  See you then!

Nancy

I made it on the Delightful Challenges Design Team!

It is soooo very exciting to be asked to be part of a design team.  I started blogging back in January 2011 and entered challenges as I found them out in blog land.  One of my first goals for blogging and card making was to win a challenge or at least make the top three.  After a couple of months I realized that my next goal was to get on a design team.

I am very happy to announce that I am now part of the Delightful Challenges design team.  Check out the Delightful Challenges blog and the Digital Delights shop when you get a chance.  Wendy (or Louby Lou) has some really great digital images and papers available.  Keep checking the shop because I have seen some really cute digital image sets that are coming out this summer!

Please come back on Thursday this week to see my first Delightful Challenge card.  I look forward to seeing and commenting on your entries to the weekly challenges.

A Father

Here is another card that I made for the Split Coast Stampers Virtual Stamping Night.  This one my son has claimed to give to his father - my DH.

I used a flourishes set that my scrapbook store brought in recently called A Guiding Light.  It is a great set with several Father's day type sentiments, this great tall ship, a lighthouse, note in a bottle and knotted rope.

You can't really tell from the photo but I stamped and cut out the ship image three times and layered them up to give the image dimension.

Card Recipe
Stamps: Flourishes - A Guiding Light
Papers: SU Very Vanilla and Not Quite Navy, Creative Impressions
Ink: Distress - Tie Die and Faded Jeans, and Momento Black
Embellishments: Prima Pearls, twine
Techniques: Sponging inside a die template, Spellbinders Label Eighteen

I plan to enter this card into the following challenges:
That's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by.
