Seahorse Under the Sea - Encaustic Technique

I have another encaustic technique card today for the Under the Sea theme over at Craft a Scene.

According to encaustic.ca ....

The term Encaustic is derived from the Greek word enkaien and means to burn into.
This procedure of applying molten, coloured wax to various surfaces was already used by the old Egyptians more than 3000 years ago – the resulting paintings of the mummy portraits are there for us to admire in the British Museum in London or in the National Museum in Cairo.

The image is stamped on glossy paper. I melted wax onto the hot iron and then smoothed the iron over the paper.  With a second color and a "flick of the wrist" I was able to make the floating kelp.

Card Recipe

Images: Can't remember the seahorse stamp (it was a shared image at the Savanna Retreat), Our Daily Bread sentiment
Paper: Whisper White,Glossy White, Glossy Black, Bazzill,
Markers/Ink: Momento Black, crayon wax
Embellishments: SU/Sizzix label punch

Challenges for this card:

Be sure and take a look at what the wonderful Craft a Scene design team has come up with for your inspiration.
Have a Great Sunday!
