Merry Christmas from Critter Sketch

Today our challenge at Critter Sketch is to make a card using a sketch.  For my card I used this beautiful Christmas image from our sponsor Inky Impressions.

I used paper from my new Graphic 45 paper pack - Christmas Past Collection.  The image tells the whole story so I kept the embellishments to a minimum.  Here is the sketch to follow - really easy, right?

Care Recipe:
Stamps: Inky Impressions (thank you to our sponsor!)
Paper: Very Vanilla, Graphic 45 Christmas Past Collection
Markers: Distress Tea Dye, Copics - G03, 05, 17, B21, 26, E00, 01, 11, 15, 17, 18, Y08, 28, 29
Embellishments: Ribbon from my Scrapbook Store, SU pearls

Challenges for this card:

Have a great Halloween day and keep warm as you take out your little treaters!

Turning Over a New Leaf

The new Paper Cutz challenge this week is Turning Over a New Leaf.  Make your card or project this week with lots of leaves.

I recently purchased a Tim Holtz leaf die with lots of different leaf types.  It is the perfect die for making the leaves I needed for this challenge.  I also have a great paper pack, Olivia, that I bought from Close to My Heart.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Our Daily Bread Designs Thank You set (I cut off the bottom part of the sentiment)
Paper: Close to my Heart Olivia paper pack and sticker, SU Whisper White, lots of scraps of paper from my scrap box
Markers/Inks: Distress Vintage Photo (around the sentiment)
Embellishment: Leaf Ribbon, Lace, Tim Holtz Autumn Gatherings leaf die, Prima flowers, brad, SU punch (for sentiment)

Ahoy Friend!

Join us this week at Delightful Challenges
for a color challenge!

This week at Digital Delights we have a color challenge.  Your project must have Purple, orange, green and black and that's it!!

My project is a secret treasure trove hidden inside a normal looking box.  I found this design at Creativityprompt.com.

I used the Pirate set from Digital Delights and an amazing Graphic 45 paper that has design on both sides which really helps this project.

Of course a box like this has four sides and a top. This provides plenty of space to put all the cute little images from the Pirate set.

I made a flower for the lid using EK Success Retro Flower punch and the leaves were cut using Spellbinders Leaves. I added a little sparkle to the petals with Stickles but you can't really tell by the picture.

Card Recipe:
Paper: Graphic 45, SU Orange and an older green
Markers: Copics of course - BV08, 13, YG93, 95, YR02,04, 09, 16, C5, 7, 8
Embellishments: Martha Stewart punch, EK Success Retro Flower punch, Spellbinders Leaves
Technique: Treasure box designed by Creativityprompt.com

The prize this week comes from our wonderful sponsor Crafty Ribbons.  The random winner will receive this wonderful batch of ribbons.

The treasure inside are these cute little drawers that I will fill with sweets.

Be sure and take a look at what the wonderful Design Team has come up with for your inspiration.  I hope you join us this week at Delightful Challenges and I look forward to visiting your blogs to see your fabulous creations.

Is it Time for Snow Yet?

Sure feels like snow around here.  The temperature has dropped and so have many of the leaves. Halloween is just around the corner and so is our first snow.

I have the Christmas bug early this year and you will see a lot more Christmas cards from me over the next weeks.  This card is made with a friendly Magnolia snowman. I followed the Mojo Monday sketch for my inspiration.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Magnolia Snowman, SU Snowman set from 2 years ago
Paper: Whisper White, Sweet Magnolia Christmas Mini Pack
Markers: Copics - B00, R37, R39 (these are my go-to Christmas red colors), Distress Weathered Wood
Embellishments: SU Twine, MS Hearts edge punch, Stickles, Hero Arts lace, cheese cloth, SU pearls,
SU Sizzix embossing folder, Spellbinders Label Four

The Stickles on the snowflake looks a little green, but it is just the light refraction.

Challenges for today's card:

I had a great Monday work day.  How about you?
Have fun stamping!

New Stampscapes Scenes

I attended a Stampscapes class last weekend and we made some great cards.  I want to show you two of the cards we made because the techniques are so cool!

For the first card we stamped our images to make a scene and then tapped on Lake Mist and Pebble Adirondack inks with a Color Box blending stylus. This technique made a very nice dusky evening scene.  I added white highlights and Stickles to simulate a little bit of star sparkle.  I think it turned out pretty well for a beginner.

One of the amazing things about Stampscapes is that you can have 5 designers in a room using the exact same stamps and all the cards will turn out completely different. For this reason I am going to enter this card into a couple of challenges.  Our teacher Leslie, from Crafty Capers in Nanaimo gave us our inspiration, but all the cards turned out different according to the ability and personality of each of the designers.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Lakeside Cove 48E stamped twice, Bare Trees 269G
Paper: White card stock, Glossy Black and misc dp
Markers/Inks: Adirondack Pebble and Lake Mist
Embellishments: Stickles, Inkssentials Opac White pen

One of the other cards we made was a cute little ornament shaped card.  We stamped on black glossy card stock with white pigment ink to achieve the effect.

Well, those of you who have Stampscapes stamps and don't know what to do with them, I encourage you to pull them out and play.  It is the best way to learn and you will turn out something amazing that needs to be shared with your blog friends.

There aren't too many challenges out there for this type of card, but I managed a few:

Have a wonderful Monday!

A Cheerful Heart is Good Medicine

The new Paper Cutz challenge this week is In The Pink.  Make your card or project this week in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

I think almost every family has been touched by cancer in one way or another.  In my family, my husband's mother had breast cancer back in the 1960's, had surgery and lived to the age of 92!  Unfortunately, his sister was not as fortunate.  She battled breast cancer through ten years and several surgeries.  Just two Septembers ago she lost that battle. Now all the women on his side of the family have to consider whether they are next.

So, my card is in honor of my sweet, sweet sister-in-law, Barb.  Barb fought her battle with grace and beauty and was an example to her whole family.  She was a Christian so we know she is with the Lord, but we all still miss her terribly.

I followed the Mojo Monday sketch for this card.  This brand new Digital Delights image works well with the Our Daily Bread Designs Proverbs stamp.

Card Recipe:
Paper: My Minds Eye Blush, Very Vanilla
Markers: Distress Worn Lipstick, Copics - R81, R83, R85, E15, E17, E18
Embellishments: Corner metal from Wild Orchard, Really Reasonable Ribbon, SU Pearls, Spellbinders Label One and Label Six

Have a Happy Dragon

Critter Sketch Challenge #87 is to make a card or project with
Green, Pink and Black.

I made my card with a really cute image from Digital Delights - Augustus the Dragon. The name Augustus suggests that the dragon might be male, but I think SHE looks great with pink spots!  I used the Spellbinders Fancy Tags die to add some dimension around her head. I think it adds to her regal nature.

Card Recipe:
Paper: Rose Red, BoBunny Garden Girl Collection, Craft Black
Markers: Copics - YG 21, 23, 25, R83, Distress Worn Lipstick
Embellishments: Spellbinders Fancy Tags, Label Six, Really Reasonable Ribbon, Prima Brad, Wild Orchard Corner Charms, Prima Pearls

Fall Into Autumn

Join us this week at Delightful Challenges for
Fall Colors challenge!

When I made this card I wasn't thinking about the fact that I had already used this great Haystacks the Scarecrow image a couple of times. I was thinking about Fall Colors and what that might look like.  I remember all the great sparkly things and scarecrows that I see in the fields all around the island.  Sometimes a tin pie plate does as good a job as a scarecrow does at keeping the birds away.

Of course, there is also the scarecrow that Dorothy Gale comes across as she is traveling down the yellow brick road.  For her it is more than the scarecrow it is also a cross roads on her path to adulthood.

Can you spot my booboo?  I forgot to draw in the post that Haystacks is resting on. lol!!

Our wonderful sponsor this week is Cute and Paste Memories with a $20 gift certificate:

Card Recipe:
Paper: Close to My Heart Olivia set, Very Vanilla, craft Green
Markers: Copics - E15, 17, 18, Y93, 95, 97, TG23, 25, Distress Weathered Wood and Tea Dye
Embellishments: Spellbinders Fleur De Lis, EK Success Edge and Flower punch, Ribbon, Lace, Michael's brads, Prima Flowers

Halloween and Thanksgiving are two of my favorite Fall activities.

Tilda is Ready to Trick or Treat

My card today is using this cute little Indian (Native in Canada) Tilda dressed and ready to go Trick or Treating on Halloween night.

I made the background for her using Art Impressions stamps - Barn Window, Hay Bail and Birds. I had to finish off the barn by drawing in some lines to simulate the boards and I added a little green for the ground around the barn.

I also added a bit of cheese cloth to one side.  I see all the Magnolia blogs using cheese cloth so I thought I would try it too.  White was not quite right for this card so I used a bit of Distress Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany, and Brushed Corduroy to give it some color.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Indian Tilda, Art Impressions Birds, Hay Bail and Barn Window
Paper: BoBunny Garden Girl Collection, Very Vanilla, Kraft black
Markers: The Distress inks mentioned above and Copics - YG63, YR09, YR14, YR16, W3, E08, E11, E13, E23, E25, E27, E33, Y08, Y28, Y93, Y95, C5, C7, C8
Embellishments: SU Twine, Prima Pearls, Cheese Cloth

I will be back later today with my Digital Delights DT card.  See you then!

Keeper of the Crows

The new Paper Cutz challenge this week is Keeper of the Crows.  Make your card or project this week with a scarecrow and you must use Orange, Yellow, Brown, Black, Blue and White.

My card is modeled after the sketch from Mojo Monday and features Haystacks the Scarecrow and the pumpkin from Fall Accessories from Digital Delights.

I tried a new technique for me and that is to color the inside of the Sizzix embossing folder with a little Distress Tea Dye ink and then press through the Cuttlebug.  I really like how it turned out - very rustic and it fits the card theme.

There is a hidden surprise - a tag with the sentiment from the Postage Stamps Sentiments pack.
