Tombow Design Team Entry

One of the many things that I have enjoyed about blogging is the opportunity to be a part of a design team.  I have been on several teams over the last few years and today I am applying for the Tombow design team.

I have actually used Tombow markers and Tombow Multi Liquid Glue for many years.  The first class I took using Tombow Markers was at the stamping store in Victoria, BC with Marie Browning, Tombow's signature designer.  She showed us how to blend three graduating shades of a Tombow Marker to make a beautiful stamped card.

For our design team submission we are to post a minimum of 3 projects on our blogs, one of which should be a D.I.Y. project.  My first entry is a simple holiday card using Tombow Xtreme Permanent Adhesive,  Tombow WideTrac Correction Tape, a Tombow Marker and glitter.

I used the Xtreme tape to make a line of adhesive on the card base and then added fine glitter.  The Xtreme tape is a very strong adhesive and had no trouble attracting and holding onto the glitter.  I repeated this step until I had 6 gradually shorter lines of glue and glitter.

Next, I swiped the correction tape onto a strip of card stock and used that as a base to write Merry Christmas with a green Tombow Marker.  The white correction tape makes a nice contrast to the green cardstock so that the sentiment shows clearly.

Finally, I layered up my green and gold cardstock and Graphic 45 Christmas paper using more of the Xtreme adhesive.  I added little punched snowflakes with gems and a twine bow to tie it all together.

The card is now ready for a personal greeting from me.

My next project is a pop-up box card that I posted back in 2013 before the craze really got going.  I included instructions in inches with a diagram for scoring and cutting.

I am including this box card post because it speaks to my interest in dimensional projects and learning new techniques.  The characters on the card are from Digital Delights, a design team that I was part of for over 3 years.

I can't help but include a scrapbook project because I love, love, love making them and they show my interest in working with wonderful designer papers and fancy construction methods.  They also take lots of adhesive!

I fussy cut part of the signature sheet and layered it on top with Tombow 3D Foam Tabs.

I used Graphic 45 Raining Cats and Dogs 8x8 pad and lots of black cardstock.  I am teaching a class on how to construct this book at my local scrapbook store in January.  Here are a few more pictures......

I am including this next project because it shows that I do write tutorials that people read - over 1600 of them (that is 1600 page hits for the flower tutorial post).  This project has had universal appeal because we all love to put flowers on our cards and projects.

My blog is about my passions and my latest passion is Zentangle.  I loved drawing the Zentangle method so much that I took the training and became a Certified Zentangle Teacher last November.  I like to include Zentangle on all kinds of craft projects.

Wild Orchid Flowers

My D.I.Y. offering is a simple home decor project using a tea light, velum, Tombow Markers and Xtreme Adhesive.

First, I cut a piece of velum to 5 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and stamped my Inkadinkado image onto velum using Tombow N25 black.  Then I turn the velum over to the other side and colored the dragonflies, bees and butterflies with various Tombow Marker colors.





Next, I applied a strip of Tombow Xtreme adhesive along one short edge,  Curling the velum over itself I adhered the two sides together.  The Tombow Xtreme adhesive is perfect for this application because it is a very strong clear tape.






You can leave the finished tea light sleeve plain or decorate with flowers of the season.

Fabulous Flowers

This is a very simple but elegant card using the Mothering Frame flowers from Digital Delights.

I printed, colored and cut out 6 layers of flower parts.  Then I stacked them up with silicone glue in between the layers.

Summer Bear

Summer weather has finally taken over from spring, children are out of school and ice cream is the order of the day.  Just in time for this cute bear to tell someone how sweet they are.

My Painter and Handyman

My card this week is for one of my son's upcoming birthday.  He is the consummate handyman who can paint like a pro, hang drywall, tape and mud better than anyone I have every seen, and create a myriad of fine finishing details.  I think one of the reasons he is so good at this type of work is that he has a very creative mindset and working with wood, mud and paint gives him an outlet for that creativity.

Hope You Feel Better Soon!

My card this week features a poor little pup who isn't feeling well.  He makes into a perfect "get well" card.  The look on his face is just perfect.

I combined the bench and pup image together using free software - Gimp.  I used PanPastels to color the background and Copics for the rest.

My Little Princess!

I made a special card for a Prince to give to his Princess.  This is a really good card for a father/daughter or special fella for his girl.

5-Minute Card Birthday Card!

I've made another Birthday card with the Digital Delights Builder series and this time it is 5-Minute card.  Yes, really only 5 minutes!

Here's how I made this very quick birthday card:

• Print the pre-colored image so that the truck width is 5 inches (back bumper to head lights)
• Cut out the image.  I cut very close to the edge leaving a thin line of white paper.

• Prepare the card base:

       a. Cut black card stock to 5 1/4 by 9 inches

       b. Score at 4 1/2 inches and fold over to make a card

       c. Trace the image of the truck on the folded card

       d. Cut out the traced image 1/4 inch away from the traced line -             BUT NOT the top fold.  This will leave about 1/4 inch of                   black around the cut image once it is glued in place.

• Add tape to the truck cut-out leaving an opening between the front and back of the parts of the box.  This leaves space for a tag.  I also added tacky glue around the wheel areas.

• Position the cut-out on top of the card and secure.
• I added a strip of plain paper to the inside for a personal greeting (2 1/2 by 4) with rounded corners.

• Cut a tag 1 1/2 by 2 inches.  Add the sentiment and punch hole.  I added bakers twine.

There it is, a 5-minute birthday card!

Digital Delights Hostess Monday - Builder Booklet

Today I have the pleasure of being the Monday Hostess over at Digital Delights!

I made a little booklet/scrapbook for my grandson Austin for his upcoming birthday.  This booklet is made with lots of really cute characters from the new Digital Delights builder series.

The booklet pages are made using the We R Memories Keeper Envelop Punch Board.  One flap is glued down to form a pocket and the other side flap is used to insert into the next envelop. You can find a number of YouTube videos on this construction method.

The only thing I did different was to fold the booklet accordion style.

This is the back where I will put pictures of Austin with BIG trucks.

The inside of the booklet is not quite a story.  I wrote a few words that he should be able to read to accompany each Digital Delights image.

The names of the characters perfectly fits my family.  One son is Brian and of course my name is Nancy.

The only name I fudged was Tool Time Donald who turns out to be Uncle Evan!

Because these pages are made into envelopes I can fit little tags inside to hold more pictures.

This is going to make a great little gift for my grandson and was very easy to do with pre-colored images from Digital Delights.
