Count Your Blessings!

This time of year, having just celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving and looking forward to American Thanksgiving, it reminds me to count my blessings for which I have many. I have been blessed with four wonderful children, now grown to adults, and six living grand children.  Being a grandma is one of the greatest feelings!

Anyway, here is my card for this week - a cute little mouse from Digital Delights to help us count our many blessings.

Personal Challenge

As you have seen recently, I have become interested in making mini scrapbook albums.  I need to make one as a gift and one for the charity auction at work.  So I have made myself a personal challenge to make an 8x8 and a 3x5 Christmas album, and at least 10 cards from this Graphic 45 stash that I have collected.

I have the 8x8 and 6x6 paper pads as well as two chip board sets and the sticker set.  I think there is a lot of potential in this stash and want to make the most of it.

I'll be back in a few weeks with the finished work.

Craft a Scene Fowl Weather Challenge

I made this card for the Fowl Weather challenge over at Craft a Scene.  I used the new stamps from Stampscapes.

The cloud stamp was turned in different directions to really show a troubled sky. I used the bird stamp several times because I wanted a big flock to be flying around looking for escape.

Card Recipe

Images: Stampscapes
Paper: Stampin Up grey and Cryogen White
Markers/Ink: Momento Black, PanPastels, Copics
Embellishments: White gel pen

Another Mini Scrapbook Album - Graphic 45 Secret Garden

OK, so I think I am hooked on the mini scrapbook album idea!  I made another one, only this time I used a general design from Anne from Anne's Paper Creations and the Graphic 45 Secret Garden paper collection.

Anne has a wonderful tutorial on making album pages based on one 12x12 sheet of paper scored, folded, and cut is a special way.  The resulting scrapbook page has a built-in pocket and a variety of fold-out flaps.  I love this design because it cuts down on the amount of paper and glue needed for the album.

I fussy-cut the fence and flowers to go around the outside of the binding.
I used Impression Obsession flower die to create all the little flowers on the tree branches.

The back.  I had to fit parts of two cut-out pages together to get this part of the back.

The inside front flap.
This is what it looks like with the cover open and the pages standing up.
The front of the first page.
A photo mat and a journaling book (still the first page).
This is the fold-flap on the back-side of the first page.
The back of page one and the start of page 2.
You can see the natural pockets created by the folded papers.
This is the inside of page 2 with a ribbon/chip board belly-bar,
a waterfall pop-up and an envelope for a tag.
The back inside flap of page 2 with a photo mat and journal book.
The last part of page 2 and first part of page 3.
You can kind of see that page 3 starts with a flap hiding a photo mat.
The inside of page 3 with tags and a journal book.
On the back of the tags you can add pictures.
Back of page 3 and start of page 4.
Inside of page 4 with a fold-out picture mat on the left, a pocket in the middle,
and a flap cut into the paper on the right.
This is the back of page 4 with fold-over flap.
The back page opens to two flaps.
I think Anna has an amazing design!  You get so many pockets and flaps for photos and added bits just by folding and cutting one piece of paper!  Check out her video linked above and make one of these beauties for yourself.

My First Mini Scrapbook Album

Hi all,

I took a class a couple of weeks ago at my local scrapbook store on how to make a fabulous mini album.  We used Enchanted Garden paper from Kaiser Kraft - so beautiful!

I am keeping the one I made in the class so I made another one to give to a work friend who lost her mother last year.  We are going to memorialize her mom using this book and her family photos.  Her mom loved fairies and collected every kind you can image, so this paper collection is perfect!

Our teacher, Faith, taught us the binding technique and all kinds of cool page treatments.  All of the pages have a top or side insert where more pictures and journaling can be done.

This is the inside of the front cover and the first page.
We are going to add a picture of mom to the left side and one of her special says.

A photo mat on the left and a special fold-out on the right.

Part 1 of fold-out.

Part 2 of fold-out and fold-up page treatment.

This page has a journaling book.

A frame for a photo.  I Tangled Cat-Fern around the outside of the frame.
This is an example of one of the top tag inserts with a magnet
to hold it down on the photo mat on the page.

I made it a triangle because I didn't want the whole page to be covered.

This page has two journaling books.  She could add photos instead if she wished.

This page has an example of a side tag insert with a flip-over tab.

The inside of the flip-over.

Such pretty fairy paper!

Opens to a waterfall for photos.

Another journaling book.

I hope she puts a picture of her and her mom here.

The back of the album.
Phew, that was a lot of photos.  Besides the Enchanted Garden paper, we used a very nice green from Bazzill and black from Recollections   I added embellishments from Wild Orchid, and Prima, and used punches and dies from Martha Stewart and Spellbinders.

I hope you enjoyed my mini album.  I had a lot of fun making it and learning all kinds of new techniques.

Time for Skiing?

Digital Delights just released a new set of Winter/Christmas images and they are fabulous!  I used Skiing Molly Moose for my card along with a bunch of Spellbinder dies.

I made an easel card this time because I thought it worked well for Molly to be sliding down the card.

Card Recipe
Paper:  New SU Winter paper set
Markers/Ink: Copics, Distress Broken China
Embellishments: EK Success snowflake punch, Craft ribbon, Spellbinders, Prima pearls, Stickles
