Tri-Shutter Winter Scene for Craft A Scene Challenge

This month at Craft a Scene we are making winter scenes with the option of making a Tri-Shutter card.  I thought you might appreciate a little bit of a tutorial to help transform your scene into a great looking tri-shutter card.

Start with a 5 1/2 by 12 inch piece of cardstock.  Score at 2, 4, 8, and 10 inches.

The tricky part is  cutting between the 2" and 10" score lines, 1 1/2 inches from the edge on both sides.  If you need help with this there is a great tutorial at Split Coast Stampers.

Next, take your piece of cardstock for the scene.  I used plain 120 lb stock because I am coloring with PanPastels, but you can also use glossy if you can find it 12" long.

Mark very line pencils lines at 2, 4, 8, and 10 inches, and along the two cutting lines (between 2" and 10").  This just gives you a guide to help with stamp positioning.

Unfortunately, I didn't take any more intermediate pictures. The next step is to stamp your images onto the paper keeping in mind the pencil guide lines.

After you have stamped and colored your scene, cut along all the pencil lines.  Then cut  1/8 of an inch of each side.

Glue all the sections in place and add sparkles or embellishments if desired.

When you are all finished the card folds flat and fits into a small envelop.  For this card, I used all Stampscapes plus an Our Daily Bread sentiment.  It is colored with PanPastels and highlights were added with Copics.

Challenge for this card:
Be sure and take a look at what the wonderful Craft a Scene design team has come up with for your inspiration.
Have a Great Sunday!
