Hope You Feel Better Soon!

My card this week features a poor little pup who isn't feeling well.  He makes into a perfect "get well" card.  The look on his face is just perfect.

I combined the bench and pup image together using free software - Gimp.  I used PanPastels to color the background and Copics for the rest.

Scrapbook in a Box

I love creating new things and this 8x8 box with 4 + scrapbooks makes a great gift.  I have a young friend at work who is getting married next weekend and his sweetheart is just getting into card making and scrapbooking.  They have asked for my help and advice a couple of times so I know that this will make a great wedding gift.

This scrapbook box is actually a gift that keeps on giving because I can help them crop and arrange their pictures giving me another opportunity to teach.  I (mostly) followed a tutorial from Kathy Orta.  This woman is amazing and comes up with the most wonderful projects. Kathy's original box is 6x6 but I wanted my young couple to be able to add 4x6 photos directly into the album.  I adjusted the size of the box to be 8x8 allowing for larger scrapbook albums.

The albums are lifted out of the box by pulling on the charms that I made from various sources - my local Scrapbook Central store and the bead shop.

The scrapbooks are loosely male and female due to my paper and color choices.  Two have more masculine colors from Graphic 45 A Proper Gentlemen and Typography collections.  The two feminine albums use KaiserKraft English Rose collection.  Both albums have the same design.

Here are three pages from the feminine album.

And here are a few pages from the male version:

Every page has extra tags for more photos and there are lots of spaces for journalling about their new life together.

I do hope they like it!

Happy Crafting!

5-Minute Card Birthday Card!

I've made another Birthday card with the Digital Delights Builder series and this time it is 5-Minute card.  Yes, really only 5 minutes!

Here's how I made this very quick birthday card:

  • Print the pre-colored image so that the truck width is 5 inches (back bumper to head lights)
  • Cut out the image.  I cut very close to the edge leaving a thin line of white paper.

  • Prepare the card base:
       a. Cut black card stock to 5 1/4 by 9 inches
       b. Score at 4 1/2 inches and fold over to make a card
       c. Trace the image of the truck on the folded card

       d. Cut out the traced image 1/4 inch away from the traced line -             BUT NOT the top fold.  This will leave about 1/4 inch of                   black around the cut image once it is glued in place.
  • Add tape to the truck cut-out leaving an opening between the front and back of the parts of the box.  This leaves space for a tag.  I also added tacky glue around the wheel areas.

  • Position the cut-out on top of the card and secure.
  • I added a strip of plain paper to the inside for a personal greeting (2 1/2 by 4) with rounded corners.

  • Cut a tag 1 1/2 by 2 inches.  Add the sentiment and punch hole.  I added bakers twine.

There it is, a 5-minute birthday card!

Paper:  Bazzill black
Markers/Ink: I used pre-colored images and just inked the paper edges with Distress Black Soot
Embellishments: Twine

Digital Delights Hostess Monday - Builder Booklet

Today I have the pleasure of being the Monday Hostess over at Digital Delights!

I made a little booklet/scrapbook for my grandson Austin for his upcoming birthday.  This booklet is made with lots of really cute characters from the new Digital Delights builder series.

The booklet pages are made using the We R Memories Keeper Envelop Punch Board.  One flap is glued down to form a pocket and the other side flap is used to insert into the next envelop. You can find a number of YouTube videos on this construction method.

The only thing I did different was to fold the booklet accordion style.

This is the back where I will put pictures of Austin with BIG trucks.

The inside of the booklet is not quite a story.  I wrote a few words that he should be able to read to accompany each Digital Delights image.

The names of the characters perfectly fits my family.  One son is Brian and of course my name is Nancy.

The only name I fudged was Tool Time Donald who turns out to be Uncle Evan!

Because these pages are made into envelopes I can fit little tags inside to hold more pictures.

This is going to make a great little gift for my grandson and was very easy to do with pre-colored images from Digital Delights.

Card Recipe
Markers/Ink: I used pre-colored images and just inked the paper edges with Distress Black Soot
Embellishments: Ribbon
