On Holiday for two weeks!

Well, I am in sunny Cancun at the moment, enjoying a few weeks of sun, surf and tacos.  Just before we left I discovered that I was lucky number 8 in the Our Daily Bread Designs HEART challenge!  I am looking forward to finding out what that means.

I will be back making cards in a few weeks. I did take some copic coloring with me though.  I hope to color a stack of images in preparation for when I return.  It gives me something to do after hours when we are relaxing in our room.

Bye for now.

Happy Birthday - Mojo Monday

What a blustery day we had yesterday - windy, rainy and cold!  A perfect day to stay in and enjoy crafting.  So I made a card for the Mojo Monday challenge Week 178

This gal with her RED purse and work outfit definately has Mojo and she is wishing someone a fabulous happy birthday.

This is another of those great digi images, "Purse Girl", that I purchased from Squigglefly.  I used Spellbinders Small Circles and Lacey Circles.  The words are stamped on a punch from Stampin Up. I can't tell who made the stamp because the wood has no company name.

Hope your day is a sunny day even if it is raining outside.

Psalm 47:2 - ODB Challenge #48

Here's a great challenge from Our Daily Bread Designs.  The card has to follow the HEART ingredients:

H= Hemp (my hemp is tying the button)
E= Embossing (I embossed the background, 2 layers with Cuttle Bug folder)
A=Any Our Daily Bread Images or Sentiments (Scripture Collection #3 and Brocade Boarders)
R= Ribbon or lace (lace)
T= Tearing or distressing (Used Distress ink and distressed the blue CS under the brocade boarder)

I had a great time figuring out how to incorporate all the elements.  I also wanted to use my new little Luxury Stack of metallic and pearlized papers. The CS is Stampin Up and the flower, Prima.  I daubed some of the Distress ink over the raised embossing to bring out the image a bit more.

Have a great day!

Peeping Tilda

Today's card is for the Just Magnolia Wednesday sketch challenge #93.

Our little Tilda is peeping out of a small scalloped die cut from Spellbinders. This pearlized paper comes from The Luxury Stack.  The paper is just the right size for making cards.  I added a few pearls from Stampin Up and a couple of Prima flowers.  You might notice the larger flower is made from designer paper using the Sizzix 3-D Flower die.

For this challenge, I wanted to use lighter colors - I am already thinking Spring!  I am not used to making so many layers of paper on a card.  I think this is why I am enjoying the challenges so much.  It makes me work outside of my comfort zone a bit.

If you don't already participate in challenges, give it a try.  I believe you will learn something new and have fun!

Happy Stamping!

Be Mine Kiki LaRue

Hi everyone,

I just got this new Kiki LaRue from C.C. Designs and I could not wait to try her on a card.  I am entering this card into the All That Scarps Wednesday challenge for last week.

This is the first time I have ever added a pin to a card!  I got the blue bead at a Beadworld in Victoria, BC.  The main card stock is from SU.  I wish I could remember the name of the designer paper.  Now that I am blogging about my cards I need to write down the company when I buy paper at the SB store.

I used B21, B24 and B26 for the dress and E50, E53 and E57 for the hair.  The skin tone is E00, E11 and E13.  I have been experimenting with skin and hair color lately and I like this skin tone for a nicely tanned gal.

There is more to come this weekend, Happy Stamping!

Shadow Box Card

I really appreciate Split Coast Stampers site and regularly look through their tutorials for something new for me to try.  When I saw the tutorial on shadow boxes I new I had to make my DH Valentine using this method.

I recently purchased a Copic air brush set and wanted to try it with this card.  This was my first try!!!  I wanted to edge the heart opening with a frame of airbrush with copic R29 and it seems to have worked.

I used Spellbinders heart die to cut the opening shape and the heart scallop to cut the heart in the middle.  I used a little Prima flower for Edwin to give his sweetheart.

The sentiment inside is stamped with Versa Mark and then I used SU Pearl Ex to highlight with a shimmering cream color.  The outside sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and a Fancy Tags from Spellbinders.

Here is a bottom view...

I have entered this card into the Magnolia Down Under Challenge # 82, and All That Scraps anything goes challenge.

Happy Stamping!

Monochromatic again

I have continued to work with the monochromatic theme and tried another card with a Tilda image and flowers made from the Sizzix 3-D flower die.

The paper is from Stampin Up Brights collection and I used Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment.  My Copic marker colors were YR04 and YR07 for the dress.

Making Flowers

I was hunting around the net to find tutorials on making flowers.  I am always looking for flowers to put on my cards but my local SB store only has so much room for such things and it doesn't always have the color I am looking for.  I found a couple of good sites where I can purchase really cute flowers but then I have to wait about two weeks before anything is delivered.  There must be a way I can satisfy my need now..... of course, I am part of the instant gratification generation.

Anyway, one I found is Learn to Stamp and Scrap with Lynn Larson.  I really like how the finished flower looks but I did not want to go to all the trouble of smooshing the paper so much that it will separate.  My answer to this problem is to use thinner paper.  I just happened to have some Japanese paper and thought I would give it a try.

I used my Spellbinders small scalloped circles - the two smallest - and cut two of each for the flower.  I layered them and punched a hole through the middle and then inserted a brad.  I did this to keep all the layers together while I crumpled and smashed the paper to give it texture and shape.  I am very pleased with the result.  Take a look....

And here is my flower on a card....
The image is a digital design by Squigglefly.

Have a GREAT day!!

Bible Verse Challenge

Split Coast Stampers Divine Design challenge is to create a card a month to help memorize Scripture.  I created my first card in January and then made a box so that I could give some of the cards as a gift with the box.   The box was noticed by Our Daily Bread and was featured on their blog.   Well, I got excited about the cards a made a few all at once........

I used the same two sheets of designer paper for most of the cards and kept the color theme throughout.  I tried to make each card unique.  The verses are from Our Daily Bread Scriture Collection 3.  I used Spellbinders for the die cuts and Martha Stewart edge punch.  Flowers and pearls are from Prima.

Have a Blessed day!
