Let Your Light Shine - Craft a Scene

This week at Craft a Scene the challenge is to let our light shine with a creation that contains a lighthouse.  We also need to tell everyone how our project is shining our light.

My project this week is a bookmark for my daughter-in-law.  Her birthday just passed and this is for her to mark her spot in her reading.

I stamped the image onto watercolor paper with Momento black ink.  I used Ranger Distress markers to lightly color the main areas and then used my paintbrush and water to smooth out the color.

Card Recipe

Paper: SU Early Espresso, Strathmoore watercolor paper
Markers/Ink: Ranger Distress pens
Embellishments: Spellbinders bookmark die, various string and ribbon from my stash

Winter Scene with Robyn's Fetish

I made another scene featuring Robyn's Fetish images that I want to share with you.

This time I used Gimp (freeware) to arrange the cottage on the page and I even flipped one of them.  The right front cottage is larger and the other two are successively smaller to show perspective. I printed the scene on Copic X-Press It paper.

I added two of my favorite Robyn's Fetish snowmen to the front yard of one of the houses.  The trees are from Stampscapes and Art Impressions - 243A, 085A, and the birds 302A are Stampscapes. Plenty of Stickles was used to add sparkle to the paths and the roofs of the cottages.

I colored the sky and paths with Panpastel Phthalo Blue Tint and then added a bit of green around the base of the trees. The trees were stamped with Momento green and Print Works Fern Green.  The houses and snowmen were colored with Copics.

Inside My Vegetable Garden

This week I have an entry for the Craft a Scene "Inside the Garden" challenge.  I am currently camping out by the ocean and just did not have time to make this card before I left home.  So my card is a little sparse on embellishments because all I brought with me were my markers, a paint brush, images to color and a few Art Impressions stamps that I am using to learn watercolor techniques.

I used two Art Impressions sets to make this card - WC Series 3: Set 1-4056 and Set 2-4057.  I brought along a couple of pieces of designer paper in case I needed them for mounting and ended up using one as my embellishment.  It is covered with daisies and I cut along the top row to make like a bit of lace.

Card Recipe:
Image: Art Impressions - WC Series 3: Set 1-4056 and Set 2-4057
Paper: SU Garden Green and a piece of paper that I won last year
Markers/Inks: Tombow Watercolor Markers
Embellishments: Prima Pearls

Welcome to My Patio Garden

When I look at my patio these days I see my containers of budding flowers and greenery.  I planted them just a few weeks ago to give my deck some color.  Soon they will be overflowing with mature flowers.  My creation this week for the new Craft a Scene theme, "Inside the Garden" uses Art Impressions stamps and Tombow watercolor markers.

Incidentally, this lovely lace is direct from Bulgaria.  I purchased it from my friends Anne and Steve Thomson at their store, Stamprs in Victoria, BC.  Anne's roots are in Bulgaria and she recently visited her long lost family there.  When she returned she had the most beautiful laces that she put in her store.

Card Recipe
Images: Art Impressions
Paper: Stampin Up Garden Green, Glitz paper pack
Markers/Ink: Tombow markers and water
Embellishments: Wild Orchid flowers, Really Reasonable Ribbon, Lace from Bulgaria, Spellbinders Circle and Scalloped Circle dies.

My Garden Bench

There is this big furry gray cat in my neighborhood that seems to really like my yard.  I find her in the flower garden, the vegetable garden, under the trees, sitting on the seat in my husbands old Triumph convertible, where ever it is dry and shined on by a patch of sun.  So it seemed fitting to include that cat in one of my designs.

I have been playing with Art Impressions stamps and different mediums.  For this particular card I used PanPastels for the sky and ground background and then stamped the leaves, grass and flowers with a variety of inks at my fingertips.  Mostly I used Momento and Stampin Up Spots.  I finished off the image using this week's Mojo Mondays sketch.

Card Recipe
Images: Art Impressions Water Color Series 7 plus lots of little flower and grass stamps, Our Daily Bread Friendship Set for the sentiment
Paper: SU Garden Green, Christy Tomlinson She Art
Markers/Ink: PanPastel chalks, Momento and SU Spots colors
Embellishments: Spellbinders Label 18, Craft lace, RRR ribbon, Wild Orchid Flower, MS Leaf punch

Challenges for this card:
Well, now I am off the garden to find that pesky cat and do some weeding.

Have a Great Day!

Tilda is Ready to Trick or Treat

My card today is using this cute little Indian (Native in Canada) Tilda dressed and ready to go Trick or Treating on Halloween night.

I made the background for her using Art Impressions stamps - Barn Window, Hay Bail and Birds. I had to finish off the barn by drawing in some lines to simulate the boards and I added a little green for the ground around the barn.

I also added a bit of cheese cloth to one side.  I see all the Magnolia blogs using cheese cloth so I thought I would try it too.  White was not quite right for this card so I used a bit of Distress Tea Dye, Aged Mahogany, and Brushed Corduroy to give it some color.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Indian Tilda, Art Impressions Birds, Hay Bail and Barn Window
Paper: BoBunny Garden Girl Collection, Very Vanilla, Kraft black
Markers: The Distress inks mentioned above and Copics - YG63, YR09, YR14, YR16, W3, E08, E11, E13, E23, E25, E27, E33, Y08, Y28, Y93, Y95, C5, C7, C8
Embellishments: SU Twine, Prima Pearls, Cheese Cloth

I will be back later today with my Digital Delights DT card.  See you then!
