Having Fun making a Steampunk Album!

Hi all!  I have been having fun creating a mini album with a Steampunk theme.  This style has definitely caught me up into the Steampunk craze of 1890's mechanical.  Gears and a little rust go a long way!

I used the Classic Handbag tutorial from Paper Phenomenon without the handbag closure of course.  I also added 1 inch to the width of the base pages so that I could get more 4x6 photos into the album.

I used a lot of goodies on the cover alone....

• Creative clocks and corners from Butterbee Scraps   
• Gear Assembly die cut from Memory Box
• Cuttlebug embossing folder on the tag
• Metal key and brads from Michael's
• Paper line is Kaiser Kraft Betsie's Couture
• Everything is inked with Distress Brushed Corduroy
• I inked the gears with Inca Gold Turquoise and Copper
• The pin is from Prima

This is the first page with all its flaps and pockets.......

I used Sizzix Trellis die on the pocket after rubbing with Inka Gold Turquoise and Copper.  The tag is embossed with a Darcie embossing folder. The tag in the top pocket is cut with the Steampunk "on the edge" dies from Tim Holtz (also added Glossy Accents) and finally the large tag in the pocket is cut with the EK Success scroll edge punch.

The left page is collaged with several pieces from the ephemera packs.

There is a Butterbee Scraps filigree on the top waterfall flap.

I used three paper collections: Marion Smith Nirvana, Kaiser Kraft Betsy's Couture and Antique Bazaar, as well as a few pages from Recollections Espresso.

Good Day For A Fun Project - Bag-Tag-A-Lope

This is a funky scrapbook that is made entirely with different sizes and shapes of envelopes.  It is, of course another Paper Phenomenon tutorial for the current kit club quarter called the Bag-Tag-A-Lope.

I made the cover a bit different that what the tutorial suggested and I really like it!  I put the closure on the side instead of making a belly-band.  I also added a little camera charm to the decoration.

The paper is the KaiserKraft Closeup collection and a lot of DIY Shop embellishments.  I left the side open on the frame so that I can slip in a picture.

I love how this turned out!  I may have to add a charm or two dangling from the clasp.

Looking at the pages in this album you would never know that they are based on envelopes.  Here are all the pages......

We also used acetate to make see-through pockets!

I like to lightly embellish my tags.

This page is a layout.

Kathy used this paper for the cover but I put it on the inside of the envelop flap.  I also cut a slit in the paper so that I could stick in a few tags.

This is a wonderful project and you should give it a try!  If you can not find the right sized envelopes at the office supply store (or around your house) then give Kathy's kit a try too.

I am a Guest Designer for Treasured Memories Canada!

I have the very great pleasure to be a guest designer for Treasured Memories Canada scrapbook store in Kamloops, BC.  My first project is an encouragement file folder tag book.  I found a number of examples on Pinterest which all contributed to my design.

The cover is decorated with Petaloo flowers, Wild Orchid leaves,
Spellbinders die cut hearts, gross grain ribbon, cute little charms and sparkly letters.

I love encouraging people and I think this little book is perfect to give as a gift to a friend who needs an encouraging boost. I plan to fill it with encouraging notes, anecdotes, special sayings, verses and poems.

I filled the pockets with lots of tags 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 as well as tags die cut from Labels 28.

I used the KaeserKraft Teddy Bear's Picnic 6x6 pad, one of the 12x12 pocket card pages, and one 12x12 page for the cover.  Here is a picture of all the tags:

I will probably add more tags for my encouraging notes.

The back of the tags are stamped with Penny Black Love This Life Journals clear stamps,
and JustRite A New Day sentiment stamps

Here are the back views....

I added lace and more of the red gross grain ribbon.

The pocket cards on the back allow tags to slip under part of the card.
The back pages are secured with a magnet to keep it closed.

Just in case you are curious, I used a black file folder from Monks.  Open the folder and fold up about 4 inches of the bottom.  Then fold over the left and right sides so that the back lines up.

I cut off a bit of the tab to make it look neater.

No matter what design you choose to use I think it is a great idea to give the gift of encouragement to someone in need.  We can all use a little boost from time to time!

The Teddy Bears Are Having A Picnic!

My mom loved teddy bears!  I think at one time she collected over 1000 just for fun.  She made them, stuffed them, dressed them and posed them all over the house (no husband or kids around to interfere in her fun).

This new mini folio style album is made in honor of the wonderful memory of my mom's collection. I found a new collection of paper by KaiserCraft called the Teddy Bear's Picnic and of course the tutorial is from Paper Phenonemon.

I cut the signature page down so that one page fit most of the cover and the key element fit on my curved pocket.  The pocket has room for lots of tags.

When you open the folio you see two sides, each held in place by large flaps covered with the great designer paper.

The right side holds a secret layer that you can't see unless you sift the paper slightly and then you wonder what's underneath.

Lift the top flap to reveal a generous sized pocket.

Open the page to the left and inside are two more nice pockets.

But hidden underneath it all is another great layout.

I also made and decorated a variety of tags for this project.  We often include tags for more pictures and jounalling so that we don't have to cover up the super cute paper.

Well, that is my mini folio album for today.  The album dimensions are 7 x 9 and the spine is made with Kraft-Tex.
